It was a whiter shade of pale on the red carpet at the Oscars this year. Added to that the glint of metallic and futurism, and then on the opposite end, a return to elegance and romanticism. Here are our favourite looks from the Oscars Red Carpet 2013.
Atop our best dressed list were the metallic dresses, as seen on Naomi Watts who dazzled in an Armani Prive dress with an asymmetrical neckline. Halle Berry was seen in a long sleeved, panelled Versace dress with structured shoulders, and George Clooney’s date Stacy Kiebler wore a graphic Armani gown.
Pastels and pale dresses were all over the red carpet last night, with the Best Actress, Jennifer Lawrence pairing her Dior Haute Couture with very little jewellery and a trip up the stairs. Amanda Seyfried’s custom made Alexander McQueen gown paired metallics with her pale dress. Zoe Saldana, wearing Alexis Mabille Couture, made the trend her own by fading with a multi-tonal hem.
Everyone’s favourite 2013 trend was seen on everyone’s favourite South African export. Charlize Theron stole the show in a white Christian Dior Haute Couture peplum gown. Michelle Williams, in a peplum Louis Vuitton gown, wore one of the lesser red carpet colour trends: red.
