Her collection, inspired by an Urban Woodsman had its debut on the CTCFD runway at the end of last year as part of the 2015 graduate runway show and CTCFD’s 50 Years of Excellence celebration. Leah’s 5 look collection was the only menswear collection on show, and incorporated sustainable practices and hand craft in elements such as hand dyeing, and hand stamping.
For the AFI Fastrack competiton, she has been asked to expand this into an 8 look collection. This updated collection will then walk the runway at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Johannesburg on Saturday March 2016 at 15H30 alongside the other 9 finalist’s collections.
In previous years CTCFD has had a number of graduates named as finalists, with Thoki Tafeni winning the competition in 2011, and Jessica Ross and Naazneen Kagee winning in 2013. We cannot wait to see Leah’s updated collection this weekend, and we wish her the best of luck!
